DEDICATED TO
STUDENT SUCCESS
As a teacher for more than 27 years, I understand the importance of education. I currently serve as assistant professor of Spanish at Villanova University, an adjunct assistant professor of Spanish at Lincoln University, and an adjunct assistant professor of school law and policy at West Chester University. My experience in higher education has provided me with a practical understanding of what will benefit students who choose to continue their education after graduation from high school.

In my roles, I have the privilege of teaching students from a variety of different backgrounds. Despite their differences, all of my students have one thing in common - their desire to learn! As a board member, I will focus my attention on initiatives that help students achieve their learning goals and in turn, achieve success!

Educational Background
My dedication to educating students is an extension of my own passion for learning. I hold a doctorate in education and a masters in education from West Chester University, as well as a bachelors in education from the University of Delaware.

I have also earned a master degree in Spanish from WCU, a master degree in Hispanic Cultural Studies from Villanova University, and a master degree in legal studies and human resources compliance from Drexel University.

COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING TEACHERS
Before transitioning to college-level teaching, I spent over 17 years working in Avon Grove School District. I taught at both the elementary and secondary levels, and I served as a high school and district-level administrator.
Despite my departure from AGSD, I have maintained many relationships with former colleagues and regularly attend school board meetings as an advocate for AGSD students and staff members.

Leadership
In a recent role, I served as principal of William C. Lewis Elementary, a Spanish dual language immersion school in the Red Clay school district. During my tenure, I led initiatives to help teachers enhance student learning outcomes, foster a positive school culture, and ensure effective communication among all stakeholders.
As a member of the school board, I will support Avon Grove teachers and staff to the best of my ability. Our teachers must feel valued and empowered in order to guide students toward a successful future!

PASSIONATE ABOUT
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
My husband and I are the proud parents of three adult children, all of whom graduated from Avon Grove School District. As a parent, an educator, and a active member of the community, I truly understand what families want for their children in terms of public education.

As a school board member, I will prioritize strengthening the partnership between home and school. A community that is well-informed will be more involved, which will have a positive impact on our students!

Community Involvement
I am a first-generation American with immigrant parents from Venezuela. As a native Spanish speaker, I am deeply committed to giving back to the Spanish-speaking families in the community.
During my tenure in AGSD, I took the lead on facilitating “Padres Latinos” meetings, a group created to support Spanish-speaking families. The meetings helped families stay informed of school happenings and district initiatives.

During the pandemic, I interacted with students and their families through outreach. I gathered information on the needs of families and helped students and families connect with their respective schools. I worked to keep them engaged in the learning process, ensuring that students could reach their full potential and achieve meaningful learning outcomes.
